Lots of fun stuff at the MTC this week! I have to thank you all because now the embarrassing moments are now just things to put into my emails. On Saturday we were prepping for a helping others appointment and we find out 15 min before it's someone new. Lesson plan out the window; I guess we're gonna freeball this thing. No problem, I felt pretty capable of answering any questions they might have. Turns out not. The lesson begins by him asking if there are missions in Gibraltar. When that small talk wasn't interesting enough he moves on to asking my comp about the Indian Reservations in his home state of Nevada. At this point I wasn't sure who was teaching who. Finally he turns back to me, and in a completely straight face with earnest curiously and a slight Asian accent, says, "So, why are you so red???" No seminary scripture mastery for that one. Honestly had to just give up at that point.
Something else cool this week was that I had the opportunity to play piano for the visiting General Authority. They had a cute little dinner set up with the MTC President and the visiting authority and his family. Very impressive individuals. (Elder Jackson) I am sometimes not a fan of the hero worship we give to those in positions of church authority. That said, when these indivuals can encourage us to point our adoration upward, to Jesus Christ, they are doing their job well. His lifetime of service and humble attitude is admirable, but it is more important to emulate the indivual that he is admiring and emulating himself. Anyways, cool opportunity, happy to be able to play in the branch as well. Music brings opportunity and connection.
Lots of bloody noses this week, darn this Utah air. Lots of wild stories from teachers that served in South America. Turns out dogs are no match for Samoan Elders with hydroflasks. (Sorry Rusty)
Things to think about:
-Every element of the Doctrine of Christ is predicated on trust
-Insomuch as we may have contributed to that fatal burden, such a moment deserves our respect -Holland
-No love can earned by obedience, that is not love
-Covenants are access to power motivated by love
Elder Dougall
