La Feria Part 2
The crazy festival that takes up all the attention of Jerez continued this week! Think of a Western town, with horses, carriages, and fine dressed ladies and gents. Add plenty of alcohol and you've described the Feria of Jerez. We passed by a few times, and it was super cool. There is a very traditional dress that is also worn with a type of shawl. I regret not having any photos of it, but I regret more that I folded and bought one
I hope it comes in handy.
This week I also enjoyed 2 exchanges: one with Elder Plewe and Elder Petersen. It is very interesting to learn the stories of each missionary and see their dedication to the Lord.
This last Friday, we received a message from a friend asking that we visited her. When we arrived, she was in quite a difficult emotional state. It was hard to get her to calm down and stop crying. We tried to read something but found it better to simply listen to a hymn. We chose one of my favorites: "His Eye is on the Sparrow." The smallest details and most mundane passings of this world are well known to the Father. We are no mundane creatures and much more does he know and love each and every one of us. Let us rejoice that He takes such an interest in us and has given everything on our behalf.
"Why should I feel discouraged?
Why should the shadows come?
Why should my heart be lonely
And long for heav’n and home,
When Jesus is my portion?
My constant Friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me...
I sing because I’m happy—
I sing because I’m free—
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me."
